Understanding Bone Health: Elizabeth Wende Breast Care Offers Bone Density Testing with TBS

Why Bone Health Matters

Our bones are the foundation of our bodies. They support us, protect our organs, and allow us to move. As we get older, keeping our bones strong becomes more important, especially for women who can develop osteoporosis. Osteoporosis makes bones weak and easy to break. Knowing your bone density can help catch problems early and keep your bones healthy.

At Elizabeth Wende Breast Care, we offer a special bone density test using Trabecular Bone Score (TBS). TBS gives us more details than a standard bone density test (DEXA scan). It looks at the tiny structures inside your bones to see how strong they are. This helps us understand your fracture risk better and make a plan to keep your bones healthy.

Who Should Get a Bone Density Test?

  • Postmenopausal Women: Women after menopause are at higher risk for osteoporosis.
  • People with Risk Factors: If you have a family history of osteoporosis, low body weight, smoke, drink a lot of alcohol, or take certain medications for a long time.
  • Those with Past Fractures: If you’ve broken bones from minor falls or bumps.

Finding bone issues early means you can start taking steps to protect your bones. This might include changing your diet, exercising, or taking medication. Keeping your bones healthy helps you stay active and enjoy life.
